Swan Serpent Ouroboros The serpent or dragon eating its own tail has survived from antiquity and can be traced back to Ancient Egypt. Traditionally, the Ouroboros represents the cyclical nature of things, eternal return, cycles that begin anew as soon as they end. It was Greek philosophers, who gave it the name Ouroboros "the tail-devourer". Here it is not the serpent or dragon but a swan–serpent hybrid. The inspiration for this design was finding a previously unrecognised stone carving of a swan serpent hybrid at Avebury. The Ouroboros is made from silver and is approximately 2.5 cm in diameter. - Click on image for larger view See article about swan serpents at Avebury on our main site: click here - http://www.godsgiftltd.com/questing.html |
